| Truro Hospital Radio has brought home national recognition for its broadcasting, from the National Hospital Radio Awards held in Belfast.
Cornwall?s only Hospital Radio station achieved the Bronze Award in the Best Children?s Output category and Highly Commended in the Specialized Music group, making them one of the Top 5 stations in these categories, in the UK.
?Children?s Choice?, which achieved the bronze award in best Children?s Output, broadcasts live from the Harlyn ward between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday afternoons. The show, which was commended at last year?s awards, allows the patients to take part and regular link-ups take place with the Royal Cornwall Hospital?s other Children?s Units, Fistral and Sennen.
The hospital broadcasting equivalent of the Sony Awards, which recognises the best in hospital radio broadcasting, was held at the Europa Hotel in Belfast on Saturday 2nd April and a number of members from the station were present at the ceremony.
The other show which received honours, was ?Classical Connections? with Ross Ellis which is broadcast on Thursday mornings.
Truro Hospital Radio?s primary aim is to provide comfort and entertainment to patients in the Royal Cornwall Hospital with a mix of music and conversation.
