Next month, Truro Hospital Radio will celebrate the official opening of its new studio.
Spotlight?s Justin Leigh, the charity?s Honorary President will ?open? the studio at 12 noon and will later present a special show for the patients along with other Professional Broadcasters in a special day of broadcasting. After years of successful fundraising schemes and help from local supporters, the big day is Saturday 4th February.
The charity?s current studio has been situated in Godrevy House in an accommodation block at the Royal Cornwall Hospital for over 15 years and with change in technology and the need to grow as a charity, the new studio will come as a breath of fresh air to the volunteers. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to patients helping to relieve the stress and boredom associated with a stay in hospital.
For the last few years, members have been actively involved in raising funds for the project. With help from our major donor The Lions Club of Truro, District and Parish Councils from across Mid to West Cornwall, businesses, members of the public and the stations? members, the charity?s dream has finally turned into a reality. From members sitting in a tub of baked beans to a couple donating a substantial amount of money in lieu of presents at their Golden Wedding Party, the charity has met it?s ?30,000 target.
