CHBN scoops Silver at National Awards Ceremony
CHBN is delighted to have scooped the Silver Award for Best Special Event coverage at the National Hospital Radio Awards 2024, which took place in Winchester.
The programme provided direct live coverage of the concert given in the RCHT Chapel to celebrate last year's 75th anniversary of the NHS. The programme consisted of speeches given by staff, administrators, executives and patients, along with songs by the magnificent Four Lanes Male Choir.
The production was the first major collaboration between CHBN and the RCHT Communications Department. Those involved were Pete Young, Pete Dowsett and Mike Brown, The programme was mixed in the chapel and then sent using the hospital's Internet system to our studios in the basement for onward broadcast to Truro and beyond.
The programme was also recorded for a repeat broadcast and from that recording an edited highlights package was created to give the HBA Award judges the best overall flavour of the broadcast.
CHBN's chairman Mark Sanders was on hand to pick up our latest piece of glassware from the HBA and said afterwards "This is amazing. To think that we have come second in this national award means that we are right up there with the best of this country's hospital radio stations and I am so proud of all te team who help to keep this station producing these great programmes for our listeners."
